Cent OS
CentOS (Community ENTerprise Operating System) is a binary-level bifurcation of the Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux RHEL distribution.
Compiled by volunteers from the source code published by Red Hat, the main difference being the elimination of all references to the brands and logos owned by Red Hat. It is an open source operating system, based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux distribution, operating in a similar way, and whose objective is to offer the user a free "business class" software. It is defined as robust, stable and easy to install and use. Since version 5, each release is supported for ten years, so the current version 7 will receive security updates until June 30, 2024. Red Hat Enterprise Linux consists of free software and open source, but its compilation is distributed through media (CD-ROM or DVD-ROM) only to paid subscribers. Red Hat releases all product source code publicly under the terms of the GNU General Public License and other licenses. CentOS developers use that source code to create a final product that is binary and functional compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and is freely available to be downloaded, used and redistributed freely by the public, but not directly maintained by the Network. Hat. CentOS is one of the distributions considered clones of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. CentOS uses yum as an update management package, a tool also used by the Fedora distribution.
